Day 85
Gothic Road

Out scouting out pictures for the new contest - curvy or angular. Can you see the curvy river down there?

I also thought I'd introduce the "beastmaster". That's our '87 Landcruiser - it rocks! (And that's me in the mirror, just in case you can't see.)

I love Lightroom! I love bumping the color like this - it's so fun!
Day 32
Simplicity

I have to say, when I walked up to the table at Camp 4 Coffee, I was searching for the sugar and couldn't find it. Once my eyes settled on these little jars, I had to chuckle. I had overlooked the obvious.

And then I was taken with the simplicity of it. I don't like how much we tend to go out and buy the newest, coolest gadget. Something neat and fun just because it's neat and fun. Instead, with as much over consumption as we have, it's nice to see when people simplify things and find creative and fun ways to reuse what they have. I think I have something to learn from them.

*On a side note, this photo is actually from the 12th. I wasn't happy with any of the photos I took on the 14th so I cheated. It's my project, right?
Day 31
Perspective

I find it interesting that when it's snowing out, you can only see the snow falling if there is something dark in the background. You can also feel it as you turn your face up to the sky. So if you look down at the white snow beneath your feet, you don't really know it's snowing.... Perspective can really change your perception.
Day 30
Surprises

I love surprises. Today I skied a long XC ski and was tired and sore. So I climbed into the tub for a nice, long soak. Shortly after I got in, my daughter, Sammie, came in to say hi. Ellie and Chris came to look for her and were toting a small tin foil boat. After loading it up with coins, they floated it in the tub with me and raced it around, blowing on it.

Frankly, it made my day.

I love surprises!
Day 29
Details

When we hike, my husband has a tendency to point out the gorgeous views, the beauty all around us. I, on the other hand, usually have my head down looking at the rocks, the plants, the mushrooms, the flowers - pointing out this and that to him. It makes a great combination - I like to think I help him see the details and I know he helps me see the big picture.
Day 28
Alone Time

Everyone needs alone time. Even if they have to lock themselves in the bathroom to get it....
Day 27
Pride

My daughter, Ellie, is 6.5 years old. She was instructed to draw this frog (her choice) in pencil. When I arrived at her art class, her teacher pulled me aside. She was astounded at how well Ellie could draw! Ellie was doing things that she had never been taught - recognizing negative space, seeing proportions, shapes, etc, etc. But the cutest thing was her absolute pride in how well she did. It was almost as great as mine!

*I should note that up until she drew this, she had mainly drawn bugs and mermaids - nothing even close to as complicated as this! I can't stress how different this is from anything she's ever drawn.
Day 26
Beauty

My sister-in-law stayed with us and brought these beautiful tulips. Just the small act of giving such beautiful flowers stays with me for days and days and makes me think of the wonderful time we had while they were here.
