Day 29
Details

When we hike, my husband has a tendency to point out the gorgeous views, the beauty all around us. I, on the other hand, usually have my head down looking at the rocks, the plants, the mushrooms, the flowers - pointing out this and that to him. It makes a great combination - I like to think I help him see the details and I know he helps me see the big picture.
Day 28
Alone Time

Everyone needs alone time. Even if they have to lock themselves in the bathroom to get it....
Day 27
Pride

My daughter, Ellie, is 6.5 years old. She was instructed to draw this frog (her choice) in pencil. When I arrived at her art class, her teacher pulled me aside. She was astounded at how well Ellie could draw! Ellie was doing things that she had never been taught - recognizing negative space, seeing proportions, shapes, etc, etc. But the cutest thing was her absolute pride in how well she did. It was almost as great as mine!

*I should note that up until she drew this, she had mainly drawn bugs and mermaids - nothing even close to as complicated as this! I can't stress how different this is from anything she's ever drawn.
Day 26
Beauty

My sister-in-law stayed with us and brought these beautiful tulips. Just the small act of giving such beautiful flowers stays with me for days and days and makes me think of the wonderful time we had while they were here.
Day 25
Things I Love - II

Here in CB, there is a lady who will paint rocks turquoise (very bright, not as shown in my photo) and she leaves them around town. I first noticed it 2 or 3 years ago. My girls would run laughing over to one when they saw it and they'd move it to a new location to "hide" it, talking excitedly about it the entire time.

This past summer, she started writing words on them in pencil. And invariably, the one you'd find meant something to you. Ellie got draw - she's my little artist. Sammie got dance - and guess what she loves to do. A guest of ours got yawn - they were on vacation and trying to catch up on sleep. But even if the word didn't speak to you, it still made you smile.

Or at least they do me. I love how they move the energy around town, how these little turquoise rocks create so much buzz and excitement in such a small - and big way.
Day 24
Contrast

I love to look at the contrasts around me. Seeing the delicate with the rough, the happy with the sad, the angry with the giddy. I think seeing each opposite, each contrast makes the other seem that much stronger - or weaker.
Day 15
Beauty

Sometimes the beauty just reaches out and smacks you in the face - like today. It was absolutely STUNNING this morning walking Ellie to school. Although I'd planned on adding a photo of her to the project, the beauty of the new snow, the crystal clear views and the low hanging clouds over the mountain just blew me away and I chose to capture that for today instead.

And even though I've lived in Colorado for almost 10 years - and Crested Butte for 4 years - I'm still floored by the beauty here. It surrounds me on a daily basis and I never get sick of it.

Sometimes beauty is like that - it's in your face, almost overwhelming. And sometimes it's hidden deep and you have to look hard for it. When you look hard enough, though, I find that you can usually find beauty in almost anything.
Day 14
Just Is

Some days just are. And some photos just are. This is one of those days.

This photo just is. Nothing more to read into it. Or is there?
Day 13
Trust

On those days when there is no one “right” answer, you sometimes just have to trust that things will work out as they should. You have to just trust that the universe will support you. You reach out and just trust. Instead of letting my head get in the way, I follow my heart. I find that the more I am able to do this, the more I find is just right in my world – even when the final result isn’t always clear.
