TippiePics > Day 81
Back patio

We just got our patio redone. Or rather, it's in the middle of getting redone... so we bought a cool fire pit to celebrate! Chris and I hung out for some quality time together - I really missed doing this! We did it ALL the time at our old house!

Well, another fire photo! LOL! But I wanted to show a little more with it. This is actually almost dark - longer exposure - and I used some funky preset in lightroom. I love how the blues and reds are really blown and you can see the shadows from the fire.

This was a mostly impromptu party we had with several of our neighbors. We had a GREAT time!! I see several other parties in our future.

What is this? I mean this VERY seriously!

I found it in a field that I think grew crops many, many years ago. I have no clue what it is at all, but it's old and heavy and iron, I believe. Anyone know? Please let ME know! Thanks!

Sammie slept for a looong time for her nap today so Ellie and played around, watched some TV and took portraits.... She's so much fun! Very silly - I love it. And I love those dimples of hers!

Gothic Road

Out scouting out pictures for the new contest - curvy or angular. Can you see the curvy river down there?

I also thought I'd introduce the "beastmaster". That's our '87 Landcruiser - it rocks! (And that's me in the mirror, just in case you can't see.)

I love Lightroom! I love bumping the color like this - it's so fun!

East River, Gothic Road

I have so much going on right now - I feel like I'm just trying to balance and get past it all and get to the other side as time rushes by. It's fun, exhilarating, exciting, but also very exhausting. My cat is missing, too, and has never been gone this long so I fear the worst....

Once mid-June is past, things should settle down a bit - right before they ramp back up! :)

At the end of a long day of cleaning and taking care of kids, a nice glass of red makes me happy.....

Oh, and this is the last photo ever taken of this glass. :( Chris accidentally knocked it over about 3 minutes later. ;)

In addition to photographing my sister-in-law's wedding here in Crested Butte on the 16th, having the reception in our front yard, I'm also making her necklace! LOL! (I think I'm a glutton for punishment.)

I used to make jewelry in a former life (read: before children) and find it very therapeutic and relaxing. I had forgotten about that!

(The orange beads are markers between different choices of how I beaded. The peridot - green beads - will be a drop at the back of a pearl necklace. Simple and elegant, I hope!)

Balance. This is something I really need to find in my life. I'm usually good and doing all the things I need to for others, but I'm not always good and squeezing in the things I want to do.

Like yoga or mountain biking.

I woke up very early and couldn't go back to sleep and went out for a mountain bike ride (hence the mud on my legs) and it felt great! I need to do this more....

I neglected to mention than when I took the photo this morning, it was about 40ºF out. Brrr! It warmed up to about 50º and the started dropping. As the girls and I waited for Chris (and the pizza!), it started to snow! No accumulation, but it was fun.

But I want it to warm up for the wedding in 10 days! Please?!?

(I know it's not the best shot, but it was so fun I had to do something with the snow!)

"The real story"

I always find it interesting when you look at a photo and it tells one story - and you find out that the real story is very different.

In this, I see that someone has been painting a lot and is sick and tired of it. The wall looks great, but there must be a lot more to do because of that look.

But the real story is.... I got my new wireless remote and LOVED the lighting in this room and wanted a shot. I didn't really like the first few shots of myself and just sat down to see if the remote needed to be in site of the camera or not (it does). The look on my face is just tired from a long day of cleaning. We actually have someone else helping with the painting because there is so much for me to do! LOL! (And the house looks SO awesome because of the new paint touch-up job!)

This one was going to be about the light at the end of the tunnel. This has been a very hard week for me personally - emotionally, mentally, etc. While I'm very excited about next week, I'm also quite stressed.....

But then a small meow heard upstairs after I had to run out for the dumb dog that ran away again turned my outlook around. Maelstrom is BACK!

HE'S HOME!!! I seriously am FLOORED that Maelstrom came back! He is declawed, has never been gone for more than 6 hours and it's been in the 20's here at night. Oh, and the coyotes and owls (!) are known for grabbing cats.

He's fat and happy still. I am assuming that someone found him and took care of him. And he either got dropped off (I had my address on the flyers) or ran back home - not sure. But he definitely does NOT look like a cat that's been roughing it for 9 days.

What an AWESOME ending to a VERY tough week!
