TippiePics > Day 24
Almont

I had to go to Gunnison for a blood draw for some minor surgery I'm having on Monday. I took a shot of the nurse drawing the blood, but wondered if people would be freaked by it so I did this instead. I like how the clouds turned out! No needles in this shot.

Slate River Bridge

The girls and I went to the river to throw rocks in.... I can't wait until it's warmer and we can splash in the river!

Meanwhile, I also enjoy towering over them and Mt Crested Butte. I am ENORMOUS!!

(Once again, copying Kate. I had put my gallery in regular order, but it's been driving me nuts... that's why it's switched. Ha ha! Oh, I did actually do this at first, but it seemed dumb. Not so much.)

Anyway, here I am sitting in the bed waiting to be wheeled into surgery. For those of you not aware, it was minor girly surgery to make sure everything is fine.... And so far, everything looks great! :) Yay!

Although Chris looks bored, I think that's actually worry on his face. Or maybe annoyance at all my photos... Hmmm, I'll have to ask him!

This is what I did most of the day - worked on photos from my last wedding! Actually, I was pretty excited.... The bride and groom ordered some FUN photos! And I got them done a LOT faster than I ever expected!!! YAY! (I thought I'd be doing this until Friday, not finishing late Tuesday!)

One of my major obsessions is www.steepandcheap.com. You can get some AMAZING things from there - mainly technical clothes. (You know, the ones for us outdoorsy types.) I got this AWESOME sweater (Mountain Hardware) for about $28 - and it has thumb holes! Another obsession! (I have LONG arms so I could never pull most of my sweatshirts or sweaters down like this.)

The second I got this sweater, I thought of this photo as the one for today...

5th Street green door on small storage building

After coming up with photo 1 for today (in my mind), the girls and I went out for lunch. I made them sit in front of this awesome green door and shot a ton of pictures of them. At the last minute, I did this one. This is one of those shots you download and think, "OMG! I LOVE it!" I love those shots.

As a side note, I normally crop to a square thumbnail, but how could I crop out my girls - or even part of them? They're so darn cute!!!

I got my new bike! My family and Chris' family got together and donated to Andi's Bike Fund for my birthday.... And I got a new AWESOME mountain bike! I can't WAIT to ride it!

Of course, I left the clips for my shoes (I clip in rather than have regular pedals for more control) at the store. DOH!

Today I set out with a project in mind... I had it all planned out. The lighting was perfect. The ideas were flowing. And then Sammie woke with a poopie diaper. I dragged her into my bedroom for a few quick shots - and my idea completely changed.

I tried to lure Ellie up a few minutes later to no avail. "I'm just going to do quiet time, mom." Later, though, when she was ready to get up, I was able to coax her up for "one" photo. They both had a ball as Sammie had woken, too.

I am in love with these photos - and many, many others I took at the same time - they show just how much I love my girls. Okay, they don't really, but I can't show you how in love with them I actually am - and no photo can capture that. My girls are amazing

Same setting. Color. My cat, Maelstrom. He's awesome. He keeps me company every night whether Chris is here or not.... Chris isn't his biggest fan because he could care less about Chris. But I love Maestrom no matter how scarce he is for others. He snuggles with me all the time!

I love it when you take photos and they come out better than you expected. This photo a day project has really stretched me a LOT and I'm LOVING the changes I've seen in my photos in such a short time - just by not caring what others think, I'm feel like my photos are getting better. Odd that!

Oh, and a rousing thanks to Mom for the borders! They're cool, eh?

If someone had told me I would have two photos of myself that were similar, but different that I really loved AND that I would have trouble choosing between them.... I would have thought they were crazy.

But it's true. I'm still not sure which I like better. Weird. Maybe I need my eyes checked!

Curls. Everyone tells me how much they love my curls. But do you know what a pain they are? I look slightly crazy when I wake in the morning and it's impossible to get my hair to look normal. Let's hear it for headbands!

Slate River Road

Welcome to mud season.

That's the season between winter and spring here in Crested Butte. As the snow melts, everything gets covered in mud. Mud everywhere. Roads, yards, sidewalks, inside, on your pants, shirts, skin, car... EVERYWHERE.

But for some reason, I still enjoy it! I like the squishy sound and the way it feels under my feet. Oh, and taking pictures of my girls playing in the mud puddles!

Do you ever have a day where you feel invisible? Like everything is going on around you and you're barely noticed? Or you just don't want to be noticed? That was today.

(Yes, I'm in this photo - several people asked!)

I was in a snacky mood for lunch and made this plate. It looked so pretty and yummy. Very different, though, from the plate I would have made 2 months ago. That would have had salami, cheese and some veggie. Instead, it's guacamole, carrot, quinoa, mushrooms, organic chips and snap peas. It was yummy! I like being vegan.

"Deconstructing a POTD"

Each day I wake up thinking about what my portrait will be.

Sometimes it's just there. I think about it, I take 3 shots and I have it. Day 31 was like that. So was 27.

Sometimes something happens to trigger an idea. Days 33, 32, 28 were like that.

Sometimes I have several pictures I like and just post them.

But sometimes, like today, I have NO CLUE! I go most of the day and try to take several photos and NOTHING feels like it depicts what I want to show that day. Like today. Usually something pops out. (Like the next shot - I took that much later than these and had planned on the "moving to the light" shot for today.)

It's odd how things strike you. Sometimes it's the composition that I fall in love with. Sometimes it's the message. Sometimes it's the colors or the idea behind it. Sometimes it's intangible. This is an amazing learning experience.

I love it!
